Without proper menstrual products, girls are sometimes forced to choose between using unhygienic practices or being confined to their homes.

Almost 1/4 of women living under $2/day are schoolgirls of menstruating age.

For many, menstruation restricts the ability to attend school, perform routine tasks, and participate in daily life free from shame or stigma.

When a girl misses days of school due to lack of menstrual products, this can lead to:

•Risk of dropping out entirely

•Lost education and subsequent opportunities

•Increased health risks

•Dependency

•Risk of child marriage

When girls are educated:

•the country's GDP increases

the women spend 90% of their income on their families

We work to remove the barriers stopping women from improving their lives.

Poor Quality of Existing Products

Current reusable products are difficult to clean. This is a problem when water is limited.
Current products take a long time to dry. This can result in bacteria and mildew growth.

Extremely Costly Disposable Options

Disposable pads are economically and environmentally costly one-time solutions.
They are inaccessible to low incomes and produce an immense amount of non-biodegradable waste.

Cultural Taboos

Social and gender practices prevent many girls from accessing menstrual management materials even when families can afford them.

Generic menstrual hygiene products contribute to a growing problem

 Massive Generation of Waste

Every year, approximately 20 billion disposable pads, tampons & applicators are sent to landfills in the U.S. alone.

To put this in perspective, each of the approximately 73 million menstruating women in the US will throw away 125 to 150kg of disposable menstrual products, or approximately 16,800 conventional pads or tampons, in their lifetime. That is equivalent to 3 king size mattresses!

It takes 500 to 800 years for a disposable sanitary pad to break down in a landfill.

The problem is aggravated when disposables are wrapped in plastic bags. In fact, every piece of plastic ever made still exists to this day!

Exposure to Unnecessary Risks

Generic disposable alternatives often contain added perfumes and chemicals that may unnecessarily put a girl's developing body at risk.
